In order to prevent any duplication or overlap between standards developed by other Standards Developing Organisations (SDO) and ASD-STAN, a number of liaison agreements are currently in existence. The liaisons allow each of the Standards Developing Organisations to make best use of their limited resources available with respect to cost and time, whilst at the same time providing clarity, focus and transparency for industry experts.

Each liaison aims to layout the parameters of agreement between the two organisations for the exchange of data in fields of activity where each SDO has an interest.

Such exchanges are reciprocal and take the form of two distinct category types.
