  Do not violate copyright laws!

When standards are copied illegally, either on paper or electronically, everyone suffers. Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) spends hundreds of thousands of euros annually on the development of industry standards that dictate the safety, quality, and efficiency of technical products and processes. Their work advances the state of the industry and furthers the harmonization of global standards, allowing users and manufacturers to market their products and services around the world, and allowing you to do your job more efficiently and effectively. SDOs depend on the sale of standards to fund standards development and the improvement of distribution and access. Please comply with copyright laws and ensure that standards development continues without the threat of diminished funding.

With your complete and consistent compliance of copyright laws, we will be more likely to make all our information available online in electronic format. Of course, that benefits YOU! So please spread the word and educate other users on the rules of copyright.

  The Rules

The following is a simple but legal explanation of the rules surrounding use of standards in printed edition and electronic format:

   License

By submitting an order for documents in electronic format, AECMA-STAN grants you a nonexclusive, nontransferable license to download documents in electronic format for your individual use on one computer. You may install one copy of the document on, and permit access to it by a single computer owned, leased or otherwise controlled by you. In the event that your computer becomes dysfunctional and you are unable to access the document, you can transfer the document to another computer. In that case, the document must be removed from the computer from which it was transferred, and the use of the document on the replacement computer must also comply with the terms of the agreement. Concurrent use on two or more computers (such as on a local area network or other type of network) is not allowed. If files are stored on your computer and your computer is on a network, the files should be locked so they are not accessible by other users on the network. You may copy the electronic document file only for backup purposes. Documents obtained in printed edition are protected under the same provisions of copyright. You are not permitted to reproduce printed editions in whole or in part.

The PDF files should not be made part of a document library that provides simultaneous access to more than one person. They should not be transferred to other users in any format. Alternative licensing, e.g. for libraries and corporations, can be arranged by contacting AECMA-STAN directly.

   Copyright

Documents obtained from this system are copyrighted. No part of the printed publication, nor any part of electronic files, in part or in whole, may be reproduced or transmitted in any form, including transmittal by e-mail, by file transfer protocol (FTP), or by being made part of a network-accessible system, without the prior written permission of AECMA-STAN. Neither concurrent use of the PDF files on two or more computers nor use in a local area network or other network is permitted. You are not allowed to merge, adapt, translate, modify, rent, lease, sell, sublicense, assign or otherwise transfer any of the document or remove any proprietary notice or label appearing on any of the document.

   Printing

The original purchaser of the electronic files may print one single copy from PDF files, provided they are used for personal viewing only. Documents printed from PDF files are not to be transferred to other users or reproduced in any way. Documents printed from PDF files should not be made part of a document library.

   General
